Useful Resolutions for the New Year

As you prepare for the New Year with list of resolutions and to-do’s, I want to share the anonymous words of wisdom that I intent to keep at the top of my list:

“This New Year, mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Write a love letter. Share some treasure. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Keep a promise. Find the time. Forgive an enemy. Listen. Apologize if you were wrong. Think first of someone else. Be kind and gentle. Laugh a little. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak from your love. Speak it again. Speak it still once again.”

Just think what the world would look like it each one of us implemented just one of these resolutions, just one time. Imagine what our families, communities, organizations and nations would become if we made a few of them a regular practice.

May 2011 be a year when we all ‘walk our talk’ just a little more consistently. If we do, we’ll all be practicing leadership…everyday.
